Kids’ Acting Classes at Gray Studios

Master Teacher David Gray
Back in June I was invited to bring my children to a commercial audition workshop to get a taste of the services that Gray Studios, an acting coaching and teaching business that operates all over Los Angeles, provides in our area. My younger son, who had just starred as “third paperboy from the left” in a musical production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, was eager to try it out.

Parents are not required to stay during the workshop, so I went to Trader Joe’s. Naturally. The problem is that my son barely gave me any information about the class! Just like with regular school, all I got out of him was a series of one word answers. How was it? “Good.” What did you do? “Games.” Do you want to audition for commercials now? “Sure.” Don’t get me wrong – he liked it. But he was done performing, so he wouldn’t even describe it to me. I know he had fun, because the teachers told me he was hamming it up with the rest of them.

So even though I can’t tell you exactly what happened, I can tell you more about Gray Studios. They are a group of working actors who have over 100 years combined experience working in film and television. Their classes include Audition Technique for film and television, and they partner with entertainment industry leaders for classes in Commercial, Voice Over, and Improv.

Our family enjoyed one complimentary workshop to facilitate this feature. I hope this helps you with a resource for your budding star!

Social Media Isn’t Rocket Science – Local Workshop November 15

Look, I know social media isn’t rocket science.  I’ve been using it since 2004, and I was an early adopter of Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.  I went into Google+,  Instagram, and Pinterest kicking and screaming, though, and I pretty much avoid StumbleUpon, Reddit, and plenty of other tools that you can use to amplify your message.

So I can kind of relate.  Kind of.  Because if you have a business and you’re NOT using social media to help spread your message, you are missing out on an easy side of marketing and engagement with your potential customers that can be very easy to use and very effective.

Enter my friend Michelle Magoffin of Bossy Interactive.  On Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm, right here in Agoura Hills, she’ll be holding a workshop to help you get started.

Michelle “will give you a new perspective on social media, one that helps you see more clearly how to integrate social into your current business priorities.”

This social media seminar includes:
Why you should (or should not) be using social media for your business
Demographics and best practices for all the major platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+
Real world examples of the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to social medis posts
Extended Q&A that will allow you to get answers to questions about how to apply these methods to your business
