Winter Wonderland Getaway at Four Seasons Westlake Village

IMG_7610Let It Snow 2013

This year the Four Seasons has taken its holiday special features up a few notches. In addition to the Let It Snow event outside at the Look Out, with snow, hot chocolate, holiday characters, even ice skating, the hotel is a stop for the Holiday Village Trolley operated by the city. It takes you to many different shopping destinations and it’s free to the community.

The Let It Snow event itself is available to the lucky folks who scored tickets through a special Conejo Deals sale, and to guests of the Four Seasons. A special Winter Wonderland package is available December 4 and 5, 11 and 12, and 18 and 19, and includes the luxury accommodations and service that the Four Seasons is famous for, plus one VIP pass for Let It Snow and the morning character breakfast and access to tickets for the rest of your guests. Elf tuck-ins are available, too!

The Let It Snow event will feature a live snowfall, a synthetic ice rink, photos with Santa, train rides, cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus, s’mores, apple cider, cocoa, and more!

You don’t have to drive to the mountains to take your kids to the snow. Book a luxurious room at the Four Seasons and enjoy snow in opulence. What a great idea for a holiday themed staycation! Stay tuned for photos and tales about the experience after we return next week to experience what’s new!

Facial Paralysis Conference, November 7 in Century City

That very first of your baby’s smiles is a moment you’ll never forget. But we take it for granted that our babies will smile — full, beaming, rays of sunshine spreading across their faces.

What if they don’t smile the way we expect?

People from babies to adults can develop facial paralysis, whether they were born with it, had a stroke, or developed a syndrome that disables one side of their face from moving. Facial paralysis PREVENTS you from smiling, showing emotion, communicating everyday things that we all take for granted with our loved ones and peers. For those who deal with it, it is DEVASTATING (on a physical and psychological level, child and adult).

Dr. Andre Panossian, director of the Facial Paralysis Center in Los Angeles, is holding a 1-day conference for families whose loved ones might be dealing with challenges of facial paralysis (child or adult). Dr. Panossian is a board-certified reconstructive surgeon who has traveled the world donating his talents and time to helping people.

The Facial Paralysis Conference will be held on November 7, 2015 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Century City from 7:15 AM to 12:05 PM and costs only $75 per family. Education, information, and the most innovative new options for treatment will be discussed, complete with Q & A and one-on-one appointments available. Children are welcome as there will be a special “kids’ camp” supervised by licensed childcare providers.

Dr. Panossian is the husband of one of my LA social media colleagues Jill Simonian (The Fab Mom). She and her husband are both generous with their time and their efforts, especially when it comes to children. If you know someone whose family is affected by facial paralysis, pass this information on to them. Sometimes hope comes from unexpected directions.

Agoura Hills Screenwriters Film Festival 2015

There are a lot of people who live in and around Agoura Hills with artistic talent and considerable accomplishments already behind them. It’s so wonderful when they collaborate with our city’s programs to bring enjoyable events to everyone who lives here.

Next weekend, the Agoura Hills Cultural Arts Council, in conjunction with the Regency Theater, is hosting a screenwriters’ film festival:

filmFest2015Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio are leading a day and a half of events that will celebrate the art of screenwriting, starting with a VIP reception on Friday, September 25. As screenwriters themselves, they will host a Q&A after a Saturday morning screening of their film “Despicable Me” on the 26th.

So grab your budding screenwriter children (or your actual screenwriter children, I’m sure there are plenty of those around here!) and make a weekend of it! See the Cultural Arts Council website for tickets and more information.
